The Key to Success? Daily Commitment.

by Ezra Firestone

A fan on Facebook recently told me, “I wish I had your focus abilities.

Well, I hate to break it to you but I don’t have any special abilities or secret skill sets. I’m just some guy who is super interested in ecommerce.

What I do have is a willingness to do the work and put my attention on my business every day. I have to rely on my willpower just like everybody else.

Speaking of which, you should read the book Willpower if you haven’t already:

Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength

I believe that being successful takes eternal vigilance. It takes a daily commitment to whatever you’re interested in.

Whatever it is that you’re going for, put attention on it every day — that’s the big secret.

For example, I’m willing to put attention on my relationship with my wife every single day because I want our marriage to feel good.

I’m also willing to put attention on my business every day, and on moving my body.

I’m willing to do these things even if there are good reasons not to do them, and you’re definitely going to be confronted with several reasons not to do the things you know you should do.

It’s easier to sit back and watch four hours of television every night. It’s easier than focusing your attention on having more in life, in whatever capacity that is for you.

I just choose to do it anyway.
