How to Use AI to Write Shockingly Good Emails in 5 Minutes Flat (with Prompts & Examples), ft. Jeremiah Allen

Ever spent hours wrestling with email copy, only to be underwhelmed by the final result?

There’s an easier way.

In one of our recent mastermind calls, my good friend (and all-around super genius) Jeremiah Allen showed us how to write surprisingly good email copy using a quick, 2-step AI generation strategy.

In this article, you’ll see:

  • How to go beyond basic ChatGPT prompts to produce better AI copy
  • The little-known AI tool that can help you hit the perfect tone for your audience
  • And case studies of Jeremiah using this process to write email copy for 2 of my brands

When Should You Use AI?

Let’s start with this quick disclaimer: we’re not suggesting you fire your email copywriter and turn everything over to AI.

A professional direct-response copywriter will beat AI every time—not to mention the myriad of other ways someone with that skillset can contribute to a well-balanced marketing team.

With that said, there are situations where AI-generated email copy makes sense.

For example, many brands struggle to keep up with the demand for email content, so they hand off much of that copywriting to junior email specialists or brand-new copywriters.

But these people don’t have the training or experience yet, so their emails are probably decent — but not great.

So by using this AI strategy, you can help train these team members (by turning them into editors vs. creators), or you can supplement the copy you’re already getting to help meet your needs.

Will it beat a direct-response copywriting pro? No. But if you don’t have one on staff, this can get you solid email copy in just minutes.

Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Generate a Conversational Script

To generate your initial script, Jeremiah recommends using a tool called vidIQ.

(Test out the free version first, but the paid plan is only $19 a month.)

VidIQ is actually meant for generating scripts for video. And this works great for email because, like email, video tends to be more conversational. So vidIQ gives your emails a conversational tone.

To get started, log into vidIQ and hit “Generate.” You can keep the prompt fairly quick & easy by inserting your product URL along with a quick description.

As an example, Jeremiah used one of my products — BOOM!’s Boomstick Trio — and the description of “effortless.”

Once you hit “Generate,” vidIQ will produce a variety of sections. First you’ll notice a title and description. Keep in mind, these are intended as the title and description of a video, so these sections may not be entirely relevant to your email.

See the little sparkle icon with the word “Refine” over the title?

That allows you to adjust the section with some added direction. For instance, you can give the title a different tone if you want something that sounds more professional, witty, casual, etc.

Scroll down and you’ll see a “Hook” section. This is the hook vidIQ will use to write your script.

You can also change the Hook type to be a problem, a promise, a challenge, and so on.

The next section is your Outline, where vidIQ shows you the outline it will use to write your script, starting with the opening hook and progressing to the final CTA.

You can also refine this section to use different Outline Types if you want your script written in the form of a documentary, a news update, a listicle, a story, etc:

When you’re ready to proceed, click “Generate Script” at the bottom.

VidIQ will generate a script using the hook, tone, and outline you specified above. Here’s the script draft Jeremiah got for his initial Boomstick Trio email:

You may want to fiddle with some of the settings to see if you can get a better outcome. Here’s another output Jeremiah got from combining a “Problem” hook with a “Documentary” outline:

OK, this is a pretty good starting point. But we’re not done yet.

Step 2: Refine Your Email Copy

In the top-right corner, click “Copy” to copy your script from vidIQ. Then head over to ChatGPT, and give it this prompt:

CHATGPT PROMPT: “I wrote an email and I don’t like the way it sounds. Can you rewrite it in the voice and tone of ___?”

In the blank space, insert the name of an influencer or celebrity who fits your audience. For this example, Jeremiah uses Paulina Porizkova, an influencer who’s perfect for his demographic.

ChatGPT came back with this email draft:

When I first saw Jeremiah go through this process, the exact words out of my mouth were:

“It’s shockingly good.”

Just keep in mind, AI can make mistakes. For instance, it got the name of one of the Boomsticks wrong.

Obviously, you’ll want to go in and fix this stuff.

But otherwise, this is some pretty darn good email copy that took no more than 5 minutes to generate. And if you don’t love the results, guess what? Just tell the AI to change it. Try a new tone, a different hook, or a more interesting prompt.

Using this process, you can pump out a week’s worth of email content in an hour.

Okay, let’s see one more copy output. But in the next example, Jeremiah used vidIQ and ChatGPT to write a promo for a product that’s highly relevant to this article: Smart Email Marketing.

The Email Marketing Framework That Actually Works.

Ever feel like your email campaigns are just not hitting the way they should? Like you’re putting in the work—writing, sending, hoping for sales—but the engagement just isn’t there? You’re not alone. Tons of business owners struggle with this, but here’s the good news:

You can get our proven framework and step-by-step system to help you create emails that convert like crazy when you sign up for Smart Email Marketing.

The secret to better email performance lies in dialing in your messaging, timing, and targeting so your emails actually drive action.

See, email has evolved. It’s no longer about blasting promotions and hoping for the best. People’s inboxes are packed, and if you’re not making real connections, you’re getting ignored.

Here’s how you change that:

? Get clear on your goal – Are you building trust? Driving sales? Bringing back lost customers? Every email should have a single, focused purpose.

? Measure what matters – Open rates and clicks are nice, but what really counts is revenue. If your emails aren’t leading to sales, it’s time to tweak the strategy.

? Speak to the right people – Not every subscriber is in the same place. Some are new, some are loyal buyers. Tailor your message to match where they are in the journey.

? Make it personal – Nobody wants to feel like just another name on your list. Use dynamic content, customer data, and conversational copy to make emails feel like they were written just for them.

? Create urgency – If people feel like they can come back “whenever,” they probably won’t. Give them a reason to take action now. Limited-time offers, expiring bonuses, or even just a compelling reason to respond today can work wonders.

One of our students managed to boost sales by 883% just by making their emails more relevant. Another company increased their orders by 1,123% by using what they learned in Smart Email Marketing. And one freelancer landed 5 clients almost immediately after finishing the course.

This isn’t theory—it’s what’s working right now.

If you want to turn email into your #1 sales channel, sign up for Smart Email Marketing today. You’ll get the exact strategies and frameworks that top eCommerce brands are using to grow their revenue on autopilot.

I have to say — it’s pretty dang good! However, he did have to make a few corrections to this copy:

  • Initially, the AI seemed to think the “Smart” in “Smart Email Copywriting” referred to SMART goals (specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and time-bound). Jeremiah explained this to ChatGPT, and it rewrote the bullets.
  • The student success stories were made up (haha), so he rewrote that paragraph using real results from real students (which are better results anyway).
  • Last but not least, the AI didn’t insert any links to the product, so Jeremiah asked it to rewrite the email with a call-to-action at the beginning and end of the email.

Ready to Try Jeremiah’s AI Strategy?

Again, please don’t think we’re suggesting you rely 100% on AI copy instead of skilled human beings.

But if you’re looking for a way to help train new copywriters, or you just need a way to supplement the copy you’re getting from your content team, then this is an easy way to do it.

I want to say a big thanks to Jeremiah for the great session. And thank you for reading. See you next time!
